ChatGPT will happily write you a recipe. ask.recipes gives it ones that people have cooked and rated instead: a searchable collection with ratings, times, nutrition and a source link on every one. Add it once and dinner becomes a sentence.
Adding it takes a minute. Everything on this page is free.
Add it
Open ask.recipes in ChatGPT and add it. A sign-in page opens: enter your email, type the 6-digit code we send, accept the terms, back to ChatGPT. No password. The newsletter is opt-in. The account exists so your saved recipes stay yours.
Ask for dinner in any chat. ChatGPT picks ask.recipes up from what you say; if it answers from memory instead, mention ask.recipes by name in the message.
No app page where you are? Add it by hand. ChatGPT files MCP servers under Plugins: Plugins → Add → Add custom MCP server, Server URL https://mcp.ask.recipes/mcp, OAuth as the authentication, tick the risk box, Create.
ChatGPT may ask before it saves a recipe or changes your pantry. The Thermomix tools are not offered in ChatGPT; they work in Claude and other MCP clients. Full tool reference in the docs.
Three asks
Real exchanges from 24 October 2026 against the live server. The wording of ChatGPT's replies varies; the recipes, ratings and nutrition are as served.

You"Salmon tonight. Twenty-five minutes, something people actually rate well."
ChatGPT

You"Fresh. The glaze one, for two."
ChatGPT
Scaled from four servings to two: two fillets, two tablespoons of balsamic, two of water, a scant tablespoon of lemon juice, two teaspoons of brown sugar, one of oil. The full card as the source wrote it:
Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta25 min · 5.0 ×1586A skillet dish, not a bake.
No mushrooms in any of them. A tray of Reese's Squares also came back on "no bake"; I left it out.
ChatGPT maps plain words to filters: "forty minutes" becomes a time limit, "well rated" a minimum number of ratings, "no mushrooms" an ingredient exclusion matched as a whole word. Say the limit and it is applied; leave it out and nothing is cut.
Saving and your cookbook
Everything you save sits in one list tied to your email, so it is the same list in ChatGPT on your phone, on the web, and in Claude or Claude Code if you use those too. Ask for it in words.
"Save it." After any recipe. "What did I save last week?" lists them back.
"Keep this family recipe: ..." Dictate it, paste it, or send a photo of the card. ChatGPT reads it and stores it as yours, private. "Add the recipe on this page: <url>" does the same from a web page.
"Give me a link to send my sister the lasagna I uploaded." An unlisted page, readable without an account, that imports into most recipe and nutrition apps.
"Bought rice, eggs and two chickens." ChatGPT keeps a pantry for you. Later: "What can I make with what I have?"
Crawled recipes stay with their source: ChatGPT gives you the link rather than a copy to share. Your own uploads are yours to send around.
