# ask.recipes

> A remote MCP server that gives any AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, any MCP client) recipe search, ingredient matching, nutrition filters, saved favourites and a private cookbook. Free. No ads. Every recipe links to its source.

Server URL: https://mcp.ask.recipes/mcp
Transport: streamable HTTP. Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, email sign-in by 6-digit code.

- ChatGPT: app page https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6ad7e6161a3881918bd701a6a39bb49c, add it. Manual route: Plugins, Add, Add custom MCP server, add the server URL with OAuth.
- Claude (web, desktop, mobile): Settings, Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste the server URL, sign in when asked.
- Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http ask-recipes https://mcp.ask.recipes/mcp`, then `/mcp` to sign in.
- Any MCP client: discovery at https://mcp.ask.recipes/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource

## Tools

- search_recipes: query plus filters for total time, rating, review count, calories, protein, fat, carbs, sugar, fiber.
- find_by_ingredients: rank recipes by how many of the user's ingredients they use and how few extra they need.
- get_recipe: one recipe in full, ingredients, steps, times, yield, nutrition, source link.
- save_recipe, list_saved: the user's collection, kept across sessions.
- upload_recipe: a private recipe of the user's own, typed, dictated, from a photo or extracted from a web page.
- share_recipe: an unlisted link to one of the user's uploaded recipes, readable without an account.
- connect_cookidoo, send_to_thermomix: link the user's Cookidoo account and send any recipe to their Thermomix / Bimby as a private created recipe with guided-cooking steps.
- list_cookidoo_recipes, search_cookidoo, import_cookidoo_recipe: list the user's own Cookidoo recipes, search Cookidoo's catalogue through their account, copy one into their private collection. The Cookidoo tools work in Claude and other MCP clients; not available in ChatGPT.

## Defaults

- Search ranks by how many people rated a recipe and applies no rating cut unless min_rating or min_reviews is passed.
- Nutrition is per serving as the source published it.
- Corpus is built from openly licensed recipe data and recipe sites' own schema.org markup, crawled by AskRecipesBot (https://ask.recipes/bot).
